I have over the years probably visited thousands of locations such as residential houses and flats, factories, schools, universities, offices, developments, abandoned structures such as power plants and warehouses. I have seen remarkable state of decay and astonishing and ingenious ways how people are regenerating and reclaiming spaces.
This has developed into an almost instinctively way of sensing what a space can be and what it can made into when seeing it for the first time. Recognising this potential has not been limited to creating spaces and sets for filming but has also given way to some very interesting collaborations and projects.
The process is very similar to designing for film or TV - I look closely at its light, flow, character and intended use, then translate the needs of the people within it into a clear spatial response. the result is design that is personal and respectful of both the building and the ambition behind it.
